WARNING: Active experimentation in progress, safety goggles must be worn at all times! The game is in the Research and Development part of the lab. This is a rigorous process. We're experimenting with mechanics, number of players, play time, etc. The games are definitely put through their paces here. The ones that survive R&D emerge glorious. It is also at this stage we determine which of our labs will carry the game forward.
You know what makes our labs look so nice? The colors of all the liquids in the test tubes and beakers. Oh also all of the fantastic artwork on our games. At this stage, artists are being selected and they are producing logos, illustrations, card frames, etc., and graphic design is being done for all of the various components. This process can take several months depending upon the size and scope of the game. Art shown on this site and elsewhere for games at this stage is possibly prototype art for demonstration purposes.
The game has passed our rigorous experimentation and testing methods for stability, balance, visual appeal, and fun, and is now being manufactured. Depending upon the complexity and time of year, this can take anywhere from a few months to many months.
Ahh the sea. After the rigors and trials of manufacturing, the finished games are enjoying roughly 4-6 weeks of rest and relaxation aboard a container ship which may or may not be named "Shippy McShipface". Our warehouse is the next destination.
When it's on the ship, it's called cargo. When it's on a truck, it's called shipping. It's a scientific paradox. Regardless, the games have been checked into the warehouse and are now on trucks leaving either directly to our backers, or to a Friendly Local Game Store near you.
